GION VINCENT | Advanced Color Specialist
Hair has been Gion Vincent's passion ever since he struck a deal with his mom in 5th grade - any hair color his heart desired in exchange for no tattoos. Growing up in upstate New York in the 90s, this promise granted him vibrant self-expression few kids could enjoy. After high school, Gion set his sights on New York City, knowing the big city's creative energy could fuel his dreams. He dove into cosmetology school and trained under the watchful eye of his hair colorist mentor, Beth Minardi, soaking up her mastery.
Gion found his true calling when he began specializing in rich, nuanced red hair colors. His work attracted the attention of fashion icon Taylor Tomasi Hill, who revealed in Goop magazine that Gion was the genius behind her signature copper locks. Now, the most stylish New Yorkers flock to his chair, trusting him to create stunning yet natural-looking hues, from sunny blondes to dramatic reds.
Surrounded by a talented community of colorists and stylists, Gion draws inspiration from his salon family. He names Mark Mileti, Damien Carney, and Sam Brocato as mentors who have influenced his gifts. Like Sam, Gion is passionate about hair health and natural sustainable remedies.
Some of his career highlights include creating a custom color capsule collection for Joico, filming "how-to" tutorials in L.A., and co-creating a color collection with Vivienne Mckinder. He's colored famous heads like Evan Rachel Wood, Marcia Cross, and the platinum Alexis Jae for Pat McGrath Labs. Fun fact: Gion transformed Tom Hanks's natural brown hair to silver for his role in the movie Sully.
A perennial New Yorker, he loves the city for its culture, diversity, and constant reinvention that pushes his artistry. Outside the salon, you can find him absorbing live music in cozy venues, checking out edgy art shows, and indulging in tapas. He enjoys reading memoirs and history books. Those closest to Gion would describe him as social, creative, and always hungry.
